Tubular alumina

  • Physical state: broken grains
  • Product color: bluish white

Tubular alumina is produced using calcined alumina sintering and in the form of balls with a diameter of 25 mm for example. This thermal process is carried out at a temperature of at least 1800 even close to the melting point of aluminum oxide (2040 degrees Celsius). During the sintering process, the recrystallization of alpha alumina crystals causes aggregation of crystals and the formation of larger crystals. Tabular alumina crystals (alpha alumina type or corundum mineral crystal structure) are large, smooth and tablet -shaped. The sintering process is fast, and as a result, closed pores are trapped among large crystals, and this special microstructure increases the shockability of tubular alumina. As a result of the contraction that occurs during the aggregation of crystals, a unified structure with low porosity and high density is formed.
