The use of porous pellet started around 2009 in induction furnaces in Iran. In those years, there was no shortage of scrap, and although the quality of scrap was declining, no one thought of using it. The Indians and Chinese who sold the induction furnace to Iran did not encourage its use either. Maybe because the parameters related to the efficiency of their furnaces were dropping.
In 2009, one of the induction factories in Yazd started using sponge for the first time. Subsequently, many factories used this product, albeit with a delay. The first reaction was negative in almost all factories. Because firstly, they were not familiar with its charging method, and secondly, compared to scrap, its phosphorus and sulfur would mess up the melting analysis, and its high carbon would make it difficult. The melting time was long and the slag was very, very terrible. Therefore, as soon as it was used, many factories stopped using it until recently.
Gamma Industrial Group will soon operate the best quality sponge iron production line with an initial capacity of 5000 tons per month
