Granular activated carbon

  • Physical state: solid in the form of uniform broken grains
  • Product color: gray to dark black

Granular active carbon (granular active carbon) or so-called activated charcoal; In general, it is an organic carbon purification medium used for water purification, usually in a fixed bed. Using granular activated carbon as a filter can remove some chemicals such as hydrogen sulfide or chlorine that change the smell or taste of water, and especially organic pollutants from water.

Granular  activated carbon has the ability to absorb thousands of organic materials and some inorganic materials. In ancient Egypt, for centuries, carbon powder prepared from half-burning whiskey barrels was used as an absorbent for medicinal purposes . The vapor phase of granular activated carbon was first widely used in World War I, in military combat masks, and found commercial use in the interwar years to improve solvents. Granular activated carbon liquid phase was used for the first time after the First World War in the purification of antibiotics and decolorization of sugar .

Granular activated carbon, according to researchers, is a porous absorption medium like granulated salt or granulated sugar, but with an internal surface and very high absorption power. This medium is made from raw organic materials that are high in carbon, such as coconut shell, coal, peat and wood. Heat is used to activate the carbon surface so that certain chemicals dissolved in the water are removed as they pass through a filter containing granular activated carbon

Description

Some of the applications of granular activated carbon and the advantages of our products are as follows:

  • Industrial and domestic water treatment industries (activated carbon with high chlorine absorption, high absorption kinetics, no black water due to carbon washing, no rust, etc.)
  • Air purification industries (activated carbon with low soot and ability to absorb pollutants such as sulfur, NOx , carbon dioxide, smoke and environmental odors)
  • Wastewater treatment industries (activated carbon capable of purifying organic substances and heavy metals, etc.)
  • Mineral industries equivalent to Goldsorb 6000 (domestic and European active carbon with high selective absorption of gold and high hardness and wear resistance)
  • Chemical industries (activated carbon for the purification of liquids and chemical processes, including the purification of alcohol and citric acid, etc.)
  • Petrochemical and refinery industries (activated carbon for water purification in refinery and petrochemical industries, as well as amine processes and gas sweetening)
  • And……
